Spotlight Moment - October 2016

My name is Laura Williams and I am a perianesthesia nurse manager in Gastonia, NC, just outside of Charlotte. I have been a nurse for 26 years, starting in PACU and worked my way to Manager of a day of surgery unit and PACU. I obtained my MSN and CPAN in 2008. This is a great area of nursing for which I am proud to be a part of. I have been on the board of directors for ABPANC for 5 years with this being my last year to serve (#6). Working with PeriAnesthesia nurses is the best- proud of what I do, the people I work with and the patients I serve, this is my motto.

It was such a great opportunity to be able to attend the AzPANA State Conference this year in Tucson, representing ABPANC. It was a jam packed conference with many learning opportunities and a whole lot of fun! There are so many certified CPAN and CAPA nurses in attendance and so many more who had a strong interest in getting certified.

I can only say from experience, certification as a CPAN has been one of my best accomplishments in my career in nursing. I am proud to hold this certification as I am sure all of you who are certified do to. For those who have yet to become certified, know this- The Benefits of Certification are many. Not only will you be advancing your own professional education and knowledge, but you will be joining an elite group of experienced nursing colleagues who collectively serve to promote quality patient care while enhancing the awareness and respect of PeriAnesthesia Nursing.

Here’s to a great year! Please let me know if you have any certification questions or need a coach to prepare for certification.

I am here to help!
